1. Who I am
Tropic Web is run by Simon Vollmuth, sole trader, Cairns, Queensland, Australia. ABN 64 973 568 980.

I handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles (Privacy Act 1988).
2. What's built into this website
Full transparency, so you know exactly what this site does:

Not used on this site: cookies (so there’s no cookie banner – there’s nothing to agree to), Google Analytics or other tracking, Facebook Pixel, advertising, AI chatbots, payment forms.
3. Why I use your information
To reply to your enquiry, prepare your free draft, build and look after your website, send quotes and invoices, and keep records required by law (for example tax records). I won’t add you to a mailing list or send marketing without asking you first.
4. Who else sees it
I only share your information with the services I need to run my business:
- Cloudflare, Inc. (USA) – hosts this website.
- Web3Forms – forwards form entries to my email.
- Apple iCloud Mail – my business email; form notifications arrive here.
- Unsplash – only if you open a demo page with example photos, see above.
Some of these services store data outside Australia, mainly in the United States. I choose well-known providers with strong security. I don’t share your information with anyone else unless the law requires it.
5. Your website content
Photos, logos and texts you send me are only used to build your website. You confirm you have the right to use them. I keep the files you send me on my own computer. Material that doesn’t end up on your site is deleted once the project is finished.
6. How long I keep it
Enquiries that don’t turn into a job are deleted after 12 months. Customer and invoice records are kept for 5 years, as required by the Australian Taxation Office. You can ask me to delete your details earlier, unless I have to keep them by law.
7. Security
The whole site runs over an encrypted connection (HTTPS). Form data goes straight to my hosting provider, and only I can access it. My accounts are protected with strong passwords and two-factor authentication where available.
8. Your rights
You can ask me at any time what information I have about you, ask me to correct it, or ask me to delete it. Just email or call me – it’s free and I’ll respond within 30 days.
If you’re unhappy with how I handled your information, please tell me first so I can fix it. If we can’t sort it out, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au.
9. Changes
If this website gets new features, I update this page and the date at the top.
